With the volume of sales at 402, it makes the average price $1,560 with the median at exactly $1,000. The sales reflect two of the best areas of the economy right now: education and health care.

While there are one or two domain auction companies that have a checkered past when it comes to ethics and the law, the vast majority of companies conducting domain auctions today are worthy of trust. Afternic continues a good year of sales with today’s announcement of Ticket.com going for $1,525,000. No word yet on the buyer, but there are some big players in this space. Major League Baseball acquired Tickets.com in 2005, Ticketmaster–who owns TicketsNow.com, zTickets.com, and TicketWeb.com–and StubHub who does not have a domain portfolio.
